I thought it was a good day. Wrong again
I work at a horse stable. Now I've been around horses all my life. But I've had little experience with studs. In fact I've handled very few and that did include a miniature stud name pony.( which is easy to man handle considering my dog is bigger than pony.) So, one day this week I was told to move two studs. No Problem, They looked um, should we say tame. Well, the first one, Louie, was a prefect gentleman. Now Thurman was a different story. Thurman is going on 3 and just realized what mares are. Just great!!!! So, I put Thurman's halter on, which he tried to take a bite out of me. I explained very nicely to him that we would have a coming to Jesus meeting if he tried it again. Well Thurman settled down and we preceded to walk out of the stall. Thurman decides he is going to walk in front of me. I don't think so!!!! I snapped at his halter and made him walk backwards until he put his head down. Now Iam thinking I did pretty good job and Iam in control.Wrong!! Apparently Thurman was in control. I hear the squeal. and up come the front feet. Oh shit!!!! I hear a voice yelling hit him with your lead rope. WTF!!! My lead rope, yeah right. Thurman is around 1300 pounds up on his hind feet coming towards me. Wrong!!! So I took the end of my lead rope and smacked his front legs. Down comes Thurman. Down goes Thurman's head and now Iam in control once again!!!! Thurman walks beside me with his head down like a prefect gentleman. Now my self-esteem goes up a couple of notchs, as we walk down the alleyway of the barn. I tie Thurman up where he needs to be, turn around very proud of myself , and come face to face with the trainer. Apparently, Iam grounded from Thurman. What? I didn't hit him hard enough. Well hell. There goes my self-esteem. maybe next week I get to try again only I will carry a whip with me. Its Miller time!!!!
